The Chapada is a sanctuary — not only for those who come only to see Nature, but also for those who prefer to enjoy this paradise in a more radical fashion by practicing a variety of sports.
There are innumerous caverns and caves spread over the Chapada’s hilly landscape offering tourists sculptured works of art in nature. The exuberance of orchids and bromeliads impresses even the most knowledgeable admirer of the species, as well as the great variety of cactus found in the rocky landscape. The biodiversity of flora and fauna is immense.
The three most important Bahian rivers begin in the region of the Chapada Diamantina — the Paraguaçu, Jacuípe and Contas Rivers. As are the three highest peaks of the Brazilian Northeastern region found in the Chapada. The Pico dos Barbados (Barbados Peak) with 2.080 meters, the Itobira Peak with 1.970 meters and the the Pico das Almas (Souls Peak) with 1 958 meters can all be climbed and are located a few hours away from Lençóis.
